Description
🎓 Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant Design Training — live online training from 3D-LABS, taught by practising design engineers who build the calculators and software used on EPC projects every day.
⏱ Duration: 5 weeks · 🕑 Schedule: 2 hrs/day, weekday or weekend batches · 📶 Level: Intermediate · 💻 Mode: Live online, every session recorded
👷 Who this course is for
Civil, environmental, chemical and mechanical engineers designing or reviewing STPs, ETPs and water treatment plants for industrial, municipal or township projects.
📚 Course structure
- Characterisation and design basis — Flow patterns and peak factors, BOD, COD, TSS, nutrients and the load basis a plant is sized on.
- Process selection — Choosing between ASP, SBR, MBBR, MBR and anaerobic routes for a given load, footprint and discharge limit.
- Preliminary and primary treatment — Screens, grit chambers, oil and grease removal, equalisation tank sizing and primary clarifiers.
- Biological treatment design — Aeration tank volume, MLSS and SRT, F/M ratio, oxygen demand and blower sizing.
- Secondary clarification and tertiary polishing — Surface overflow rate, solids loading, filtration, disinfection and reuse quality.
- Water treatment plants — Coagulation and flocculation, lamella and tube settlers, pressure and gravity filters, softening and RO pretreatment.
- Plant hydraulics — Hydraulic profile through the plant, channel and pipe sizing, pump sizing and Hardy Cross network balancing.
- Sludge handling — Thickening, digestion, dewatering by filter press or centrifuge, and sludge disposal routes.
- Civil, mechanical and electrical interfaces — Tank structural sizing, equipment layout, standby philosophy and instrumentation.
- Deliverables and approvals — Process design basis, mass balance, equipment schedules, P&IDs and pollution control board submissions.
