📚 Course structure
- ASME Section VIII Div 1 essentials — Scope, design pressure and temperature, allowable stress, joint efficiency and corrosion allowance.
- Shell and head design — Cylindrical and conical shells, ellipsoidal, torispherical and hemispherical heads, internal and external pressure.
- PV Elite modelling — Building a vessel model, element data, materials and load cases, and analysis settings.
- Nozzle design and reinforcement — Area replacement, nozzle reinforcement pads, large nozzle rules and nozzle load checks.
- Flanges and bolted joints — Appendix 2 flange design, gasket selection, bolt load and flange rigidity checks.
- Supports — Saddle design to Zick analysis, skirt and lug supports, leg supports and base ring design.
- External loads — Wind and seismic analysis, vessel stability, and combined load case evaluation.
- Heat exchanger and special cases — Tubesheet checks, jacketed vessels, and when Div 2 or FEA becomes necessary.
- Fabrication and inspection interface — Weld details, NDE requirements, hydrotest pressure and nameplate data.
- Reporting — Design calculation reports, GA drawing inputs, and how a client reviews a vessel package.
🧮 3D-LABS calculators and software you will use
Every module is taught against real design sheets from our library of 680+ engineering calculators and our in-house software (PV Master) — you keep access to them and can use them on the job from day one.
- Shell and head thickness to ASME VIII Div 1
- Nozzle reinforcement area replacement
- Appendix 2 flange design
- Saddle support and Zick stress analysis
- Skirt support and base ring design
- Wind and seismic load on vertical vessels
- Hydrotest pressure and MAWP check
- Tubesheet thickness check
🖥 Tools, codes and standards covered
ASME Section VIII Div 1 with Div 2 awareness, ASME Section II Part D, TEMA for exchanger cases, IS 875 and ASCE 7 wind and seismic loading, and PV Elite workflow throughout.
📦 What is included
- Certificate of completion issued by 3D-LABS
